Pismo Beach is a Dog’s Second-Best Friend
Not every beach welcomes pets, but Pismo Beach encourages paws of all sorts – and they’re allowed in more places than just the sand.
It’s a Dog’s Life on Pismo Beach
There are designated beach areas for pooches and their people, including Pismo Beach to the left of the Pismo Pier, the Oceano Dunes, and Port San Luis and Avila Beach (hike there via the scenic Bob Jones Trail) which encompasses activities for every speed, be it stroller, rollerblades, bikes, or walkers. Bring your Frisbee along, doggie paddle in the waves, or see if your pet is game for a ride on your surfboard.
A Place to “Park” Your Dog
Dog parks are open to families who prefer to bring Fido along on their outings rather than leave him cooped up at home. Dinosaur Caves Park, Elm Street Dog Park, and El Chorro Regional Dog Park offer opportunities to enjoy the great outdoors and indulge in some fun with your kids and canines.
Chow Down in Pismo Beach with Man’s Best Friend
If your tail-wagger accompanies you most places, it can sometimes be a challenge to sit down and enjoy a nice dinner out. No worries. From delis to family eateries, the list of dog-friendly restaurants in Pismo Beach is lengthy and diverse, whether you’re craving fish and chips or a tasty burger. Dig into nostalgia and great eats at historic Shell Café at Pismo Beach. Or get your Italian on at Rosa’s Italian Restaurant.
Wine and Dogs Do Mix
While no one recommends plying your pup with a little vino, your beloved pet is certainly welcome to tag along at dog-friendly wineries. Dogs are permitted outside and on a leash at Avila Valley Wine & Roasting Company, Baileyana Winery, Claiborne & Churchill Vintners, Chamisal Vineyards, Kelsey See Canyon Vineyard, and Laeticia/Barnwood Vineyards.
A Place to Rest Your Tired Dogs
No doubt, your dogs will be barking after a busy day in and around Pismo Beach. If you come to Pismo Beach with your favorite four-legged friend, you’ll want a pet-friendly Pismo Beach hotel to put your feet– furry or otherwise – up for the night. The SeaCrest OceanFront Hotel warmly welcomes you and your pets in one of our pet-friendly rooms. Food and water bowls are provided, as well as plush-top pet beds. And you’ll appreciate the easy access to the lawn area from a private patio, or a shaded enclosed patio with a short walk to the lawn and dog-friendly beach below.
