Stars of the Industry: Honoring One of the SeaCrest’s Own
The California Hotel & Lodging Association (CH&LA) has named the SeaCrest OceanFront Hotel’s LaMont Simonaro as a Stars of the Industry Award Winner in the category of Outstanding Lodging Employee of the Year.
The term “dedicated employee” doesn’t begin to cover the kind of valuable team member LaMont is. Though a hotel of the SeaCrest’s size finds employees wearing many hats, LaMont is known for taking on duties far beyond the scope of his principal role in maintenance. He is frequently called upon to assist in security and housekeeping duties but, above all, it’s his adopted role in guest relations that often finds him making the biggest mark.
LaMont has become an unofficial ambassador and fount of all knowledge for the SeaCrest – and guests have noticed. Returning guests to the SeaCrest ask for LaMont by name. He is frequently singled out in online reviews and handwritten notes for his contribution to someone’s stay and ability to quickly resolve guests’ issues and concerns.
We believe LaMont has hospitality in his DNA – but, most of all, he is a conscientious and hard-working person who does whatever needs to be done to keep the SeaCrest performing at a top level, and to make sure guests are happy, no matter the cost to his own personal time. LaMont goes above and beyond to make every guest’s stay better, easier, and to help them feel at home.
The 2013 Our Stars of the Industry Award will present LaMont with a plaque honoring his service, at the CH&LA Annual Meeting and Stars of the Industry luncheon on November 19, 2013, in Indian Wells, California. LaMont will also be entered in the national Stars of the Industry Awards competition, presented by the American Hotel & Lodging Association, and being held in March 2014 in Washington, D.C.
