Celebrate SLO Wine Country

slo wine tastingSLO Wine Country is celebrating its 25th anniversary and invites you to join 33 days of fun, food, and wine with “Roll Out The Barrels 2015” starting April 1st. The organization is very excited to celebrate what makes this wine region so special, including:

  • A reliable cooling effect from the Pacific Ocean, ensuring a long growing season for grapes to achieve natural ripeness and balance for consistent quality from vintage to vintage
  • Complex soils that add a variety to single varietals for increased quality and complexity

What to expect at this year’s event:

Weekly Events

A wide selection of wine-related adventures and activities will be taking place. You will have opportunities to meet the wine-makers and learn about the wine lifestyle embraced on the Central Coast, which includes a rich culture in sustainability and farm-to-table processes.

Each week encompasses its own theme such as “Taste the Coast,” “Farm to Fork” and “Sustainability & Heritage.” Some wineries choose to participate all month long while others have selected specific weeks and special events. Barrels in Mission Plaza

On Thursday, April 30th, enjoy an evening in San Luis Obispo’s historic downtown Mission Plaza to see what creates our genuine locavore experience of “grown here, made here.” General admission covers two hours of sampling specialty cuisine and a variety of fine wines from 15 local chefs and over 20 wineries. An early entry VIP hour is available for those who want to sample reserve wines.

Complete with live music and a photo booth, this evening is the ultimate celebration for San Luis Obispo’s culinary and wine.

Some of the participating wineries and restaurants include: Ancient Peaks, Baileyana Winery, Chamisal Vineyards, Claiborne & Churchill, Kelsey See Canyon Vineyards, Saucelito Canyon Vineyards, Stephen Ross, Adelina’s Bistro, Chipwrecked, Madonna Inn, and Splash Café.

Taste the Coast

Taste the Coast” is a collaborative winemaker dinner scheduled for Friday, May 1st. The topic of discussion that night includes exploring why exceptional Chardonnay and Pinot Noir grow in our cool-climate coastal wine region of San Luis Obispo.

Local winemakers will guide you through a comparative tasting that represents the very best of SLO Wine Country. You will also enjoy an artfully paired four course meal from Café Roma.
