Memorable experiences can be made in and around Pismo Beach every day of the year. To help plan your adventures, we’ve compiled some of our favorite and most notable things to do each month. Make 2018 your best year yet with some of these great Pismo Beach experiences.
Here’s a treat to enjoy the whole month: Restaurant Month. The best restaurants in the county create superb prix fixe menus for $30 to $40 per person to give you a lower cost introduction to their best dishes. Dates vary by restaurant so plan ahead.
Visit the Monarch butterfly grove just south of Pismo Beach for a very special experience. The Monarchs gather by the thousands on trees in the eucalyptus grove at the end of their long migration from the north, spending the winter in sunny California.
The lineup for the SLO International Film Festival isn’t set yet for 2018, but it’s worth attending every year. You will see new and old feature films, documentaries, and short subjects on amazingly creative topics, with professional quality. March 13 – 18, 2018.
Toward the end of April every year, the Pismo Beach Chamber of Commerce sponsors the Taste of Pismo, which usually sells out. The 20th annual event will be held on or about April 23, so check back starting in March to make your reservation.
The Arroyo Grande Strawberry Festival is San Luis Obispo County’s largest free festival and was named “The Place to be on Memorial Day Weekend” by Sunset Magazine. Activities include the Strawberry Stampede Run/Walk, Strawberry Pancake Breakfast, musical performances, and strawberry treats of all kinds. May 26 – 27, 2018.
The biggest and baddest car show on the Central Coast takes place in Pismo Beach June 1 – 3 in 2018. This will be the 32nd annual Classic Car Show with 1,000 stunning rides to review.
A wonderful musical event takes place every July in SLO County, the Festival Mozaic. This year the 48th season will be held at venues all over the county July 18 – 29, featuring classical and jazz music by highly skilled artists.
Be one of the first to enjoy the open space and stunning views from the Pismo Preserve, scheduled to open to the public by mid-year 2018. This 900-acre parcel was purchased by the Land Conservancy of SLO to preserve it forever for passive recreation by the public.
The 81st rendition of the Arroyo Grande Harvest Festival will take place in September. This is an event with something fun for every member of the family.
Taste beer, wine, and food from all over San Luis Obispo County at the annual Boogie on the Bluff hosted on our lawn at the SeaCrest OceanFront Hotel! Boogie on down while listening to Rio Salinas, featuring Grammy award-winning musician Louie Ortega, and enjoy the beauty of the coast. After the event shuts down, you can relax in your room or sit out on the terrace to enjoy the sunset. Boogie on the Bluff is on Sunday, October 28, 2018.
Surfing! Last year, the World Surf League held its inaugural Pismo Beach Open in mid-November, and plans to return. Surfing and Pismo make a perfect match, and this event will draw top professionals. Don’t worry though: there’s plenty of surf for everyone.
There are Christmas events all over SLO county in December, but there is one that you will not see anywhere else. Every year Morro Bay hosts a Lighted Boat Parade along the Embarcadero and worth the short drive from Pismo. In 2017, over 40 boats participated, from a raft of kayaks to the Lady Washington tall ship.
