traveling with teens

Planning a trip to Pismo Beach with teens? Fortunately, we have no shortage of teen-friendly activities to keep them active and happy, and your holiday planning a breeze. From stand-up paddleboarding on Pismo Beach to skydiving, create a memorable trip the entire family will love.

Here are our four favorites:

1. Surfing at Shell Beach

Experience the beauty of Pismo Beach from a surfboard. Hit the waves at Shell Beach, one of Pismo’s stunning gems.

Want to change it up? On calmer days, try out stand-up paddle boarding.

Visit Shell Beach Surf Shop to rent equipment and learn more about the best places to learn to surf in and around Pismo Beach.

2. HumVee Adventure Tour

For a truly wild adventure, take an off-road Hummer out to the dunes. Your HumVee tour guide will take you all around the Pismo Dunes and Oceano State Recreation Area to experience the dunes in a way that is sure to thrill your kids.

Head to Pacific Adventure Tours to reserve your booking.

3. Skydiving!

Is skydiving on you or your teen’s bucket list? Get your dose of adrenaline by skydiving at Pismo Beach. Whether you’re a first-time diver or consider yourself a pro, Skydive Pismo Beach offers options to skydivers of all levels. Tandems start at 8,000 feet with 25-seconds of free fall and go all the way up to 13,000 feet and 60-seconds of free fall.

Since skydiving is subject to weather conditions and Pismo Beach is sunny more than 280 days a year, this is a perfect holiday activity to plan for during your trip here.

4. Hiking the Ontario Ridge Trail

This 3.1 mile hike with more than 1,100 feet in elevation gain is known for its phenomenal coastal views. Some sections are rather steep, making it ideal for older kids who want to work up a sweat.

Start the hike from the large dirt parking lot along Cave Landing Road. After a steep start, the trail will somewhat level out. You can make the hike an out-and-back, or continue along the trail to turn it into a loop through Avila’s residential areas. Given the steepness of some areas, hiking boots are recommended for this trail.

We hope you and your teens enjoy all of the treasures we have to offer here at Pismo Beach. Start planning a Central Coast holiday you and your family will cherish for years to come. Book your Pismo Beach vacation today.
